Education will without a doubt be one of your main concerns if you're an expat looking to move to Milan with your family. The International School of Milan provides tailor-made programs so your children can benefit from quality education. Here are some tips for studying in Milan.

Our Campus

The is located approximately 2 km north of Milan's city center in the Expo Area.

Our campus, the largest of its kind in Milan, offers the following: the Early Years, Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. The architectural design reflects the multi-purpose, multi-functionality of the new campus, including an auditorium, a swimming-pool, a gymnasium, two libraries, bar service and kitchen, dining-hall, external spaces for social interactions and sports activities, and green areas for younger children. Accessibility is guaranteed by numerous external public car parks and a large basement with parking spots for cars and minibuses. Surveillance is guaranteed 24/7.

The school offers an efficient shuttle bus service as well as a door-to-door service from the city center and towns near Milan, for families who are not able to accompany their children to school.

Milan

Milan is the leading Italian city in terms of Fashion, Architecture & Design, Finance, and Food, with a rich historical and cultural background. Home to the impressive Duomo, La Scala theatre, a few beautiful parks, and an array of museums and galleries, you are sure to find something to keep you busy. Events and festivals are frequent, and the Rho Fiera exhibition center hosts fairs and events all throughout the year. Outside of the city, Milan is within a short driving distance to lakes, mountains or even the coast, so whether you prefer to relax by the sea or spend your weekends skiing in the mountains, Milan is a great location to start exploring from. Well connected by train, the rest of Italy is easily accessible and affordable.

Learning at ISM

An IB (International Baccalaureate) education provides opportunities to help our children develop in so many ways beyond the regular, and usually quite rigid, curriculum. In addition, it provides both a disciplinary and interdisciplinary understanding that meet rigorous standards set by institutions of higher learning around the world. IB programmes offer curriculum frameworks and courses that are broad and balanced, conceptual and connected. All of our schools understand and engage with group dynamics, innovative teaching techniques, and ways of learning that are reflected upon, and adapted continuously, for the benefit of all the students.

Admission procedures

Families of students seeking admission to IS Milan should make an appointment to meet with the Headmaster. The purpose of that meeting is for parents to be informed of the school ethos, the curricular programme, expectations and daily activities at IS Milan, and also for the Headmaster to evaluate the application. Where possible, the student/s should be present, but if this is not possible, they may be asked to attend an evaluation before enrolment can be authorised.

Families should bring the following documentation to the initial meeting:

  • copies of academic reports for the past two years
  • copies of reports of any evaluations carried out by external specialist
