Dublin is ideally located as you can partake in many of the tremendous city-based activities or go a short distance outside of the city and be in the middle of beautiful nature. You are right on the coast, as well as being a short journey from mountains and rolling green fields. Therefore, you have the best of both worlds in this regard.

Nature activities in Dublin

There are many excellent nature sports in and around Dublin. In the city centre itself, you have parks such as Phoenix Park, St Stephen's Green Park and Merrion Square Park for you to get a breather from hectic city life.

You are also on the coast, where there are many great walks, such as at the Poolbeg Pier and right along the coast out by Dun Laoghaire, Greystones and Bray. There are many mountains and hills around in the outer limits of Dublin where you can hike and walk around, taking in the amazing scenery.

If you are looking for specific activities, you can choose from the likes of skydiving, tank driving, river rafting, mountain biking, abseiling, rock climbing, off-road buggying, to name but a few.

City activities in Dublin

If you want to stay in the city and partake in some activities, you still have a lot of options. You can visit the Guinness Storehouse, which is the headquarter of the world-famous beverage. Here you can learn all about how the drink is made, about the history of the brand, as well as sample a variety of different beers. You also have plenty of live music around the city in the likes of on Camden Street.

There are always great comedy gigs taking place, with the being a favourite. This is where many of the top Irish and international comics come to perform. There are many historical sites and museums around the city, such as Dublin Castle and The GPO. You can learn about Irish and Dublin history. Some of the architecture you can see around the city is centuries old.

If you are into architecture, you can really see the evolution of construction in Ireland, comparing the modern buildings with the old Georgian and Victorian buildings. Phoenix Park is only a stone's throw from the city centre. You can also visit the likes of Dublin Zoo and the house of the President of Ireland. It is a place where you can unwind in the green grass and watch the wild deer roam around the park.

Finally, you can enjoy some of Dublin's many pubs, bars and restaurants. You are spoilt for choice in this regard. You will always have access to great food, great company and great drinks. The weekends are always buzzing around the city, so you never know what event or festival will be taking place on the streets.
