I'm an aspiring writer/filmmaker currently living and working in Kerala in south India. I was born in the UK, grew up and went to university in New Zealand, then spent a year teaching English in Japan before coming to India in 2008. I like to find connections between things - hopefully connections that are actually there, rather than ones that only I see!

Experienced love and heartbreak, finding out what it is I really want to do, and learned more about being real. I think we never stop learning, and this is even more true of India, a country which brings constant challenges.
People who are eager to get to know you. So many stories to listen to. A deep, rich and all-encompassing history. Buying perfect mangoes for less than a dollar.
People who are TOO eager to get to know you! And the hypocrisy in virtually all levels of officialdom, from the Lok Sabha down to your local police station.
First time living abroad, learned Japanese, spent too much money, learned a lot about myself - and that my future was not in Japan.
Everything in Japan runs smoothly, and once you get to know people, they really open up and treat you like a member of their family. The food is incredible, and there are so many incredible places to see and experience.
It is very hard to get to know people other than fellow ex-pats (at least, in and around Tokyo). Life is very machine-like, lacking in the sort of human interaction I think I require in order to stay sane...
Grew up there after spending the first year of my life in England. Became a Kiwi, something I will never forget about myself.
Beautiful land, welcoming people, very safe. Worth at least a visit for absolutely anyone.
Too much of an inferiority complex! Or is that just me?
