Hi there my name is Max, I'm a 23 year old dude originally from Denmark In 2003 I made the change of my life by moving to Italy. Moving here proved a huge change (specially not knowing the language). I started out in a local school where I slowly started learning Italian the hard way, but just sitting and listening (I had no special language classes on the side my first school year). Unfortunately not being in a big city none of the teachers knew basic english, even the english teacher had her struggles I have to be honost xD; so comunicating was quite hard in the start. School years passed and I started to get the hang of the Italian. In 2010 I finished my education as surveyor and decided that I needed some air after all that studying and hard time learning the difficult Italian terms for my trade, so I decided to take a year or two in Australia. I loved my backpacking years in Australia so much that I stayed as much as I could; I even convinced migration (somehow) to extend my visa to let me stay one more month, (they are only alowed to do that under "extreme circumstances" xD). So I actually ended up staying there for 25 months, leaving on the day my visa expired. Then I did a couple of weeks in south east asia and finally made it back to Italy just for Christmas eve. Now I'm back in Italy helping out my family and the tourists at our holiday rental apartments. Who knows where I'll go from here :D
I joined expat.com on 25 October 2010.

I moved to Italy in the summer of 2003. I began school and it was very had due to the fact that I didn't know any Italian. The years passed and I got better at it, and in the summer of 2010 I finished school. All the summer and autumn of 2010 I was preparing for my new adventure Down Under.
Moved to 5 different locations while my stay in Umbria. The place (compared to Tuscany) is poorer, and less stuffed by tourists. This makes the Umbrian folks a little friendlier and more ongoing. Compared to the Dane, the Italian people are more polite and cleaner.
The Italian system is rubbish; if you want to have something done you can wait for years. The land is ruled by a "dictator". The Umbrian roads are the worst in the world, many people died to the poor road conditions.
Was born in Denmark. I grew up there and lived there until the age of 13.
Danish people compared to the Italians, really know how to get the things done and are fast at doing it. They are hard workers (some are pushing it too hard though). They are good designers and know how to make things looking good. They are strong economically.
As a worker in some positions you are really in the risk of getting stressed. They are more "cold" people compared to the Italians (haven't got that openness).
