Where to buy a computer? by johnnieB

I am looking for a new computer laptop, which are the best shops where prices are not highly inflated when i walk in the door?

davydavy21

I bought a cheap Lenovo 6 months ago from Carrefour and I couldn't complain at all. Reasonable selection and very cheap. As mentioned having to get the software loaded is a pain as I didn't even get a CD in the box. Read More

Hi everyone I have a question. A friend of mine is in trouble she is a foreigner she was told she can’t take the kids out of the country if dad doesn’t allow but dad is also abusing the children and we have proof can she leave with kids ...

davydavy21

Yes that's likely a problem. I don't know Egyptian law but could quite imagine spouses permission is needed. Presumably she needs to move out in the short term. In the medium term perhaps she can get passports for the kids from her home ... Read More

Yes insist on seeing the bill or get an electrician to check the system. Billing goes on a monthly cycle. For the first 50 kilowatts you pay next to nothing but there are 7 bands the last of which is for over 1000 kilowatts you are paying some 6 ... Read More

Renting an apartment in Cairo by Jamiechua

Hi, I am moving to Cairo next month. Is it reliable to rent from websites like propertyfinder.eg? What is norm with rentals? What usually comes with rentals? Do kitchen usually come installed in flat? I was told houses don't usually come ...

davydavy21

Never heard of a rented flat not having a kitchen! Unless renting for a short period through Airbnb or similar you really need to view flats in person. It may be possible online but would not recommend. As mentioned all tastes of furnished or ... Read More

Both great areas. Maybe more expats in Maadi, more upmarket places in Zamalek. Distance to your work would be of importance. Read More

What sort of visa are you applying for. From what I can see there is a health insurance charge of 400 GBP for a full year if getting some form of long term visa. Putting aside the web page issue I am concerned like Markhaz that you are getting ... Read More

Car import by soulie61

I am looking to move to hurghada later in the year and bringing my car with me. Does anyone have an idea of the import taxes, registration etc to bring a European car to Egypt. Car is an Hyundai i20, 1.2ltr benzine/gas, manual. Many thanks Paul

davydavy21

I think the general perception is that import duties and hassle will make the process not worth the effort. Also, something to consider is that car import duties from the EU are supposed to reduce. Look it up but supposedly from a month ago the ... Read More
