I hail from Miamistan.Hail on earth. I disappeared when the idiocracy allowed "you know whoeth" back in for term two. I'd been traveling here twice a year since 1986.I pretty much know every corner of the country and my best advice is to find somewhere never mentioned in tour books or seen on gringo realtors websites. My best advice is to look for farming communities with several banks , hardwares, veterinarians and feed stores. It's a higher class of person than lives in the big chitties and lurks on the beaches like a Jaguar waiting for it's prey. Pura Vida. Time to round up the animals for the night. PS forget having a " guard dog" They'll either steal it or kill it. The #1 rule in ANY Latin American country is this. "If you're near a city or tourist attraction, leave something unattended, and it doesn't get stolen, it's either too heavy or they didn't know what it was" Me Jan. 2011
