Expat experience
Cheap beer and reasonably priced food. Climate also good as there are less mosquito's compared to Thailand and less humid.
Tuk Tuk drivers are very persistent and always think they can rip you off. Learning a few basic words or phrases such as Atay Bong (No thank you) will help you.
Speaking a little Thai helps in getting around and the cost of living.
Prices are creeping up in the country and locals are getting greedy due to lack of tourists.

Unbelievable poor customer service and lack of a decent public transport infrastructure.
Good weather but rainy season is best avoided, as it really does pour down during those months. Cheap accommodation.
Outside of the tourist areas it can be unsafe. Police corruption is rife there.
