Sargassum Seaweed by Guest2022

Last year was a terrible, and perhaps the worst year for Sargassum seaweed throughout all the Caribbean. On my flights down to the Leeward Islands via Puerto Rico two weeks ago I noticed large lines of the seaweed everywhere again in the seas. So ...

Where to buy Lanco Urethanizer paint?? by brodies2013

We had heard years ago that the best roof paint was a rubberized paint called elastomeric paint? Now we've heard that this Lanco urethanizer is the best roof paint for a concrete roof for rain collecting...Any one out there have an opinion?

I use encargopaq in Sosua for the large items that come by ship. All our appliances came from Homedepot in Florida. Wife insisted on a convection oven, French door fridge and dishwasher by Samsung for the condo renovation. It came through encargopaq ... Read More

renting/buying in Casa Linda and Sosua Ocean Village by Expatlife4us

I was wondering if anyone on this chat had any experience either renting or buying in Casa Linda or Sosua Ocean Village, or just information you may have heard about either of those developments. We have toured both and they both seem very nice.

Reasonable airfare To Puerto Plata by Kat11

Does anyone know the cheapest flights/airline to Puerto Plata from Miami or Fort Lauderdale? I searched around and seems everything is $600 and up. There are always flights to Punta Cana for under $300. Just thought maybe I am unaware of a flight. I ...

An interesting note on airfares. You can fly WestJet from RSW, through YYZ and then to POP for less than MIA to POP on AA but it makes for a long day. I will do many things to avoid MIA. Read More

You can fly JetBlue from FLL to STI on many days for less than $300.00. Baggage is extra and that cost has just gone up. Still, with 34" of legroom, flights leaving FLL at 8:28am vs 28" on Spirit in the middle of the night, it's a ... Read More

I'm currently renovating a condo in Sosua so hopefully within a couple days I can give you some input on that since I will have tempered glass in both showers. Wife and I really dislike shower curtains and prefer no enclosure but space does not ... Read More

Opening a business in DR by Mafalda172

I'm from Canada (Quebec) and my dream is to open a business in DR... on the beach (yes on the beach). Is that feasible? I want to bring our famous Quebec poutine to the travelers and the locals of DR.

The Jolly Roger in Sosua has very good poutine. Wish there was a place to get Montreal style smoked meat. Read More

It's tucked away basically behind Banco Popular. I doubt there's much breeze there. It is close to Playa Alicia but unless there's a path, it's a long walk, maybe close to a mile, to actually get to the beach. Turn right after Banco ... Read More
