Why expats love Vietnam? by Anne-Lise Mty

Hi everyone, I'm Anne-Lise from the ½ûÂþÌìÌà team. In a survey we ran on expatriation trends in 2019, we realised that a lot of professionals were considering Vietnam as an expat destination. We, therefore, decided to put together a little ...

I was unaware it was that bad in Cambodia, but with Hun Sen as leader, they have no hope. He was one of Pol Pot's henchmen and should have been tried for crimes against humanity and hanged. Now that would have helped Cambodia, but there seems to ... Read More

Hi Yogi007 I was in Philippines in May/June 2018 and there was no talk about Chinese taking over Boracay; there was however, lots of chatter about the Chinese pillage of Sihanoukville in Cambodia. I unreservedly apologise for my ignorance about ... Read More

I doubt very much that Boracay would be overrun by Chinese (Yogi007). The whole Island was closed by Duterte late 2017 (I think) and only a few places re-opened in October 2018 - 6000 beds in government-approved hotels as opposed to the almost 20 ... Read More

Seeking long-term residency. Need advice. by vietexplorer

Hello everyone, I would like to live in Vietnam long-term. I'm far from retiring age so I figured I could support myself by being self-employed (I'm an alternative medicine practitioner). How do I go about obtaining legal residency that ...

Mumbo-Jumbo I'm afraid. There have not been any scientific papers published in any reputable science journals that demonstrate the effectiveness of alphabiotics to my knowledge. Do a search yourself. Given the vague nature of the terms used to ... Read More

What would you bring with you to Thailand? by Rickjoy

Moving from Australia to Thailand what possessions would you bring with you? Or is it cheaper to buy whatever you need there?

nuns

.....and I agree with Robinaus re the bike license and helmet. Get them at home and add the bike permit to your license, then it will be added to your IDP. Read More

Robinaus.... Forget the Radox - it's only Magnesium sulfate with smell. Get this from any farm produce store or ask for Epsom salts, then if you want the scent, add some yourself. You may find it in supermarkets - it's there in Oz. Otherwise ... Read More

Is Vietnam a good place for a single 60 year old woman to retire? by suefrankdahl

How safe are cities compared to other parts of the world? How easy is travel within VN? Can one get by with English and French?

nuns

I'm in the same boat as suefrankdahl. I will be retiring at the end of this calendar year and plan moving to Da Nang, Nha Trang or Snooky in Cambodia early next year. I have been to each of these places previously but alas only as a tourist and ... Read More

Best Way To Get VND: Bank Transfer or ATM by GuestPoster229

Hello all, What would be the best way (considering fees, exchange rates, ...) to transfer a few hundred Australian dollars from my Commonwealth bank account to VND in HSMC? Thanks

I have used a remit company such as remitly or world remit to transfer money to myself in Philippines over the last 6 weeks. Very easy and cheap compared to using an ATM credit/debit card withdrawal or companies such as Western Union or Moneygram!. ... Read More
