My husband and I retired early and will be moving to Belize, hopefully before the end of the year. We decided to leave the States now instead of waiting as we are tired of wasting money in attempts to keep up with the rat race. My husband is a retired steel worker and got tired of seeing coworkers die of cancer within years of retiring. Plus, the political and social environment is toxic, especially in the last two-plus years. We first came to Belize 3 years ago for our 30th anniversary and fell in love with the people, food, culture and climate. We've been back ever since. Now it will be our home. We're on a very tight budget and are looking for one of the last great land bargains on which to build an off-grid small Belizean style home with solar power. We'll have a garden and chickens, I hope.
