Introduction

Having survived the economic meltdown in the United States we picked up our bags and fled to Rio de Janeiro to our second home. How do you lose 24 pounds in 4 months? Leave everything behind except a few essentials you stash in your dad´s basement and fly one way to Rio. Live off the land- breadfruit, bananas, speared fish, etc. Dive and surf everyday the conditions are good and only eat once a day. Spend hours in the impact zone videoing your friends with your new camera and housing and MAKE THE MOVIE that is your life. Don´t listen to anyone when they tell you you have skills...talent... ``You should get a job as a manager.. That´s what you are good at... Yup`` No. Teach English to the locales for 40 reals per hour and only work when you want to. Kayak to the islands. Learn to kite surf in Barra de Tijuca and discover the best of Rio de Janeiro- Recreio dos Bandeirantes. If you think this lacks veracity get on a plane, come to Recreio, take surf lessons at the Escola Jeronimo Telles and ask him.... Hey man! Where is the Gringo do Canto? He might even be standing by you already. Get ready for the movie, the secret point break, Little Beach, or even Hell´s Beach which is only a boat ride away. Get ready to have some fun!!!!!!!!! Forget Copacabana or Ipanema. Too many prostitutes. Too expensive. Find Prainha and you will be in Paradise.... But remember Paradise has a price... You must figure out how to not get kicked out... Play golf in the parking lot with the guru dude before you head back. Hey! Don´t let her eat that apple. Peace, KeyLife
