This site is wonderful, even though I am busy with my occupation I find myself drawn to this site on a more frequent basis. I look forward to visiting all of Southeast Asia next year and possibly for a place to retire. So all the different cultures and people associated with them are interesting to me on this site!

Working, Working, & Working. I am working to prepare for my retirement in the future. I don't know how the transition is going to be from working under stress to not working at all. I will probably teach English in Thailand on a part-time basis to keep myself busy a few days a week and enjoy sports activities and the Thai culture the rest of the week.
I like living in California, even though the economy is tough right now for a lot of people there is no where else where one can enjoy such a diverse amount of activities. I just came back from a camping trip from "Big Sur" which is beautiful, it is along the coast off highway one. I have hiked Yosemite National Park this summer, have enjoyed a day in San Francisco, Monterey, and Lake Tahoe Nevada. All locations are no more than a few hours away driving time from my home. California still is a great place to live and with education comes opportunity. I came to the United States as a migrant worker (very poor) and I was able to see that education would be the only way I could better my situation. It has given me a great life!!!
I don't like that people who say that there are no jobs and are not willing to work at any job. If you are really serious about being employed then sometimes one has to lower expectations to gain employment.
I lived in Thailand for two years and really enjoyed the Thai culture. I don't mean the night life and bars but the countryside and the people who lived there. I loved the simple pace of life and how Thai people appreciated what they had. I learned to love the this way of life and want to spend my last years retired in this environment.
The people and their way of life!
The heat and the humidity was really difficult to get used to but after awhile one comes to thrive in this type of weather!
