Have lived in Germany and Canada most of my life, but also in the USA, Mexico and Switzerland. I have visited many countries on business trips (mainly non-European) and privately (mainly European). Watch with dismay how many countries have changed drastically and all for the worse. Where will there be a future for people who are not just sheep? I am worried about what will happen to our children and grandchildren in the future we are all heading too. I have been in Uruguay for almost a year now and I must say that I truly like the country, its climate and most of all its people. Only drawback - the prices.
I am a male.
I am married.
I joined expat.com on 20 September 2022.
YES. I have moved here now. I have purchased small (35 ha) farm in an area with sufficient water and fertile soil. It is in Colonia close to the border of San Jose. The first fruit trees and Casuarinas have been planted, a good-sized vegetable garden started, and the renovation is making some progress, abeit slower than hoped for.
I like the people here, that it is rather European in many ways, and that although agriculture is practised extensively it is an important part of the economy. But I came here because we were robbed of our freedom in Canada.
I miss the seasons (yes, winter too!) and I could do without one, that is Carnival. I do not understand how a country can hope to be successful if it shuts down for two out of twelve months every year. And as everyone will tell you: The prices!
I have been living in Canada for three extended time periods, at various locations in Ontario and the Maritimes. Studied, articled, worked, farmed, was in politics, and much more.
(New Brunswick) lots of space, beautiful almost empty beaches and farmland, warm and friendly people.
All of Canada has changed so much, it is hard to believe. Everytime I see or hear the Prime Minister ...
I was born and raised here, returned to work, was self-employed too, lived in various areas, shown is the last one.
the culture, the landscapes
politics, what else?
