Introduction

Expat life started a little different than most for me. I was advised by my Doctor I had 2 - 3 months to live. Extremely over weight, 4 heart attacks, 2 strokes and drinking an average of 15 liters of Coca-Cola a day. So, did I feel like dying in Canada? Not a hope so off I went on a journey that started mid July 2010. I landed in Bogota Colombia on July 27th, 2010, weighing in at a little over 155 kilos. and spent 10 months travelling Colombia and arrived in San Cristobal Venezuela on May 25th, 2011. This is where my real test came into play. I was robbed of all my money, clothes and computer 10 minutes after stepping out of the taxi. The last 13 months have taught me a lot about living in a foreign country with no passport, no documents, and a pending election. My new passport finally arrived yesterday June 28, 2012. The question now is do I stay or move? Oh by the way. When I arrived in Venezuela I weighed in at 95 kilos and now I weigh in at 84 kilos, and feeling a lot better than stressed out life in Canada.

I joined expat.com on 29 June 2012.
