Introduction
We left the UK on 4th January 2008 to start a new life in Auckland, NZ. Four days before leaving our family and friends behind to move 12,000 miles away, we discovered we were expecting our first baby. We now have a Kiwi daughter and our lives have changed beyond recognition. Our blog http://peregrinetale.wordpress.com/ shares tales of our life in the City of Sails.

Expat experience
Daughter-raising, exercising, cooking, socialising, travelling, feeling guilty about being so far from people who love us.
People, climate, scenery, beaches, bush-walks, space, tiny population, great place to raise a family.
Badly insulated houses, cost of food, feeling guilty as we're soooo far from people that love us
Socialising, travelling, day-dreaming about living somewhere safer/warmer/friendlier
Architecture, history, shops, bars, friends, proximity to European cities (for holidays)
Crowded, dirty, dangerous, unfriendly, expensive, stressful
