I am from Arizona. I came to China because I wanted an adventure and I chose a smaller city like Tengzhou, pop. 1.5 million, because it had a small western presence, was near the high speed train and was close to many interesting places. I am teaching at a middle school, it is interesting and very fun. In four months here I have been to Beijing, Jining, Jinan, Qingdao, Nanjing, Shanghai, Seoul, Qufu and many small villages and towns. Oh, I also went a short way into North Korea. I have found the people here friendly and the museums plentiful and usually free. There are less than 10 westerners who reside in Tengzhou, which means we are on stage and in a fish bowl often. We get together a least once a week and do stuff. Are wondering if there are other westerners close by. Tengzhou is in the southern part of Shandong Province. Let me know and we will get together for some fun. I was a tour guide to the Grand Canyon and other points of interest in AZ for the last 13 years, I know how to find the cool stuff.
