Sri Lankans are indirect communicators and use both verbal and non verbal forms of communication.

Non verbal forms may include facial expressions hand gestures and other types of body language

As an expat it’s important to understand that Sri Lankans dislike being pulled up in public and confrontation as it causes them to lose face .

You are quite right. Having lived in 4 countries myself, this is true in Sri Lanka and also throughout Asia. Although Sri Lankans are generally open to correction, any form of chastisement is best done privately.
