advice on the buying a home

Post new topic

Purchasing a home in DR can be difficult....I had to back out of a purchase having paid the reservation fee of a $1000 USD. I am not sure now whether I will get it back, but the payment was approved by my lawyers Guzman and accordingly I should think they are responsible for getting it back for me.

Do not fall for this purchase under current information you provided.  Time to stop and look at what everyone here with lots if experience has told you.  We dont know each other but regardless, we dont want you to get into trouble.  No matter what kind related to this purchase.

      my attorney   advised me not to give anyone  any money until you're @ the table signing the papers … say you give a deposit of $5000 and then “they “ back out , how would you go about getting it back ,  though the courts ?? … i did send my lawer money from NY to put down and he gave it back to me when i landed at the airport , thats when he educated  me a little about how one should go about it …. he was great

That is correct for non developer purchases but where the payment is approved by your lawyer regarding developer purchases, the lawyer is responsible for getting the reservation fee back. It may take a little longer but the lawyer should succeeed in getting it back

Yes i understand that, but i would ask the attorney how would he go about it

(  getting the money back )   keep in mind that the whole country side is dotted with unfinished   community projects  , not all projects end bad but many (condos) have cost overruns , unforeseen problem  ,  including material cost increases….. so do your homework well and don’t get an empty suit for a lawyer because when a LLC corp walks away

there really isn’t any recourse …   wishing you good luck

@Tippi

Recovery of the reservation fee is included in the lawyers fee paid so I do not really need to how they will do it. They have already contacted the developer and since I backed out early in the process(pre contract stage), I should also get a refund on the lawyers fees as well. All I have to do is wait now, Thanks
