Post-Covid-19 situation in Austria

Post new topic

Mickael

Hello everyone,

The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the world, including on expats' lives. Travel restrictions, business closures, budget cuts, and health measures have created unprecedented challenges for those who have chosen to live in Austria.

Now that the pandemic is moderated, expats are adjusting to a new daily routine. So tell us, how is your expat life now:

Are there still any health measures in place in Austria? If so, what are they (wearing a mask, barrier measures, etc.)?

Have you noticed any changes in the population's habits or behavior after the pandemic?

What is your new work rhythm: do you still work remotely or are you spending more time in the office?

Have you changed your spending habits? If so, which ones?

Despite this pandemic and its consequences, how do you see your future in Austria?

Do you have any advice for other expats and future expats on this new daily life in Austria?

Thank you for your contribution.

To be honest, my life is pretty much the same as it was before COVID.

Austria has 9 states and all have their own rules, Vienna was the last to lift wearing a mask on public transport. But wearing a mask in hospitals is still mandatory.

Have you noticed any changes in the population's habits or behavior after the pandemic?

No, not really

Some people still work from home, but it hasn't affected me.

Have you changed your spending habits? If so, which ones?

Its my home now, so no change. Life goes on.

Do you have any advice for other expats and future expats on this new daily life in Austria?

None, whats so ever.

As SimCityAT mentioned, masks are still required in hospitals in Vienna, but also in doctors' offices. But nowhere else now. Some people still wear masks (public transportation, food markets, pharmacies), so I suppose that's a difference from pre-pandemic life. Courses at university level (Univ. of Vienna and Fachhochschulen) are still mixed on-site and online, and there are new testing procedures to avoid crowded testing halls, so that area of work is still different. For the past year, travel has been different - a lot of cacellations and fewer services. I still don't know what things are like now, but I'll be travelling to the UK in April, so I'll find out if it is still difficult.

I travelled to the UK in November, via Amsterdam and was no different to pre-pandemic.
