@Yabba Don't look for just one thing, but an aggregate when you do d&d (due diligence). Yes, check with the DBD That there is a company that's actually registered in that name. But people can do "DBA" or "doing business as" meaning they doing business almost under a nickname, not under the name there registered with. It's fairly common.

Also check the thoroughness of the Facebook page and match it with the information on the web page. Any company that doesn't have a web page in 2023 should be discarded.

Moreover, check the email, the WhatsApp, the line ID, and then a real company should have a hard line as well as mobile phone numbers. (Phone numbers that start with 20 and then six digits. These can be traced through TOT to an address).

And then one of the best techniques to determine whether a company is real is whether or not they have a corporate bank account. Bank account for companies that only exist under an individual's personal names is suspect because you need a corporate account to open up a Thai ltd. The corporate bank account name has to be the same  name registered with the DBD. You can also check the revenue department and the Social Security Department.

Obviously you can keep going, and you should until you're confident. But you get a feeling pretty quickly after a while. Brand new, barely filled in Facebook pages are huge red flag. (Someone with 37 friends that's had the account open for 6 monthscompared to a page that is fully filled out with information).

Check that all the information corresponds with itself: that all the information on the website corresponds to the corporate bank account that corresponds to the social security license number that corresponds to the tax identification number with the revenue department, and all of them have to be connected to the TOT 20 land line and the address registered to the DBD under the official name of the company.

It's a legal requirement that the sign for the company with the DBD name is outside of the registered address, and that the license from the DBD, the Social Security license, and the TIN from the Revenue Department are hanging up somewhere inside the office.
