Old tb scar

Post new topic

Hbergi17

@XTang Hello my friend. I had TB 2 years ago while I was in dubai (under work visa) and went through the treatment and now well thank God. I have 2 Q please:

1. It is time for me to renew residency. Is there anything special (like tests ) for old TB patients upon renewal.

2. If I want to change job. Then i will need to cancel current visa and apply for a new one. Will that fall into the category new application? If so, you think they will still mark me as unfit since I have old TB scars ?

Thanks for your help mate

1) No

2) Not if you stay in UAE and get a new visa without exiting and in under 6 months

@XTang Thank you

regarding Q 1. once they do the blood test, they will find TB molecule (though it is not active).  wouldn’t they send me for further tests to confirm. thank you for ease my worries… hope u understand my curiosity

XTang

They don't do blood tests for TB.  Only chest Xray.  And if something appears they will do sputum or skin test.

Hbergi17

But there is no chest xray in renewal. how they check now for TB, below is the new resoution

A new Cabinet Resolution was passed in 2016. As per this resolution, all resident expatriates while renewing their residence visas have to undergo TB screening. Those found with scars or active TB or found having drug-resistant TB will be issued a conditional fitness certificate and be issued residence visa for one year

They test it from the blood if you have an active TB or not.

X-ray is to see the TB history to understand if you had it before or not.

@Hbergi17 - you don't need to worry about it, just go to your primary doctor and ask for a doctors note if you are negative, to give you peace of mind, okay - this will solve your worries. Better get a doctors certification to all your past surgeries, etcetera if you know you are negative especially from covid. Okay, don't worry too much.

XTang

@Hbergi17 :  You are confusing different things.  One is how TB tests take place and second is visa matters.

On the first, to answer both you and @Handsoflight:

The primary test to check active TB or indeed even past TB is the Chest X-ray.  Confirmatory tests are sputum (spit) or skin test (induration measurement).   UAE MOH does not do any blood test to screen for active TB.  The blood tests involved are very expensive i.e. Quantiferon or T-spot.  T-spot is better and can be used in place of the skin test - it is rarely, if ever used in the UAE for visa medical.

On the second point, they don't do Chest X-ray on renewal for everyone - for some professions they do.  But the point is; your case is NOT a renewal.  You will cancel a visa and then apply for a new one.  This means you WILL get both blood tests and chest x-rays.

So what is the point of worrying about what and how they will test - does this help your situation in any case?   are you a doctor or are able to assess medical protocols?   I think you are unnecessarily worrying about something that is NOT in your control.  And on top, as I explained before, you are under OLD visa protocols so you will not get deported.

Hbergi17

@XTangThank you for the detailed explanation. I asked for both cases as I am renewing in few months that is why I sent the decree that says for renewal they check for TB too. I asked for visa cancellation in case I find another job, am I at risk if cancel. Anyway thanks again for your time ðŸ™

If you are medically unfit (Old TB) in UAE. you can always come back on dependent visa. There are different visa for which they allow medically unfit person to live in UAE.

Students are allowed
Dependent Visa
Investor ( more than 1million AED)
Govt officials/ diplomates

Hi forum members! Does anyone have any knowledge about uae (any emirate) investor visa for medically unfit (specifically old tb scars)? How does that process work? Any information will help as googling it did not provide much info. Thank you!

XTang

Same rules.

@XTang

Just to confirm, if the medical test states UNFIT you will still be granted an investor visa if you meet all other requirements?

Thank you for your help!

@GuestPoster78

Hello,

i have been reading and following these threads,

as there was no clear information and contradiction online.. just following and asking you if the person in your question got the UAE visa? (old tb scar on new application for dependent visa where expat spouse is the sponsor). as i can read online that  on the renewal of residence visa for expats dependents, they issue conditional certificate. but no clear info on the new application with same issue.

will be waiting for your response. thansk

XTang

Have clarified this many many times on this forum.  The law changed many years ago.  There is no issue for dependent visa anymore re: TB scar, whether it is new or old application.  Conditional is standard process..........all it means is that you have to go for treatment etc before they give you the full visa.   And this will happen anytime you change visas e.g. to another emirate.

@XTang

I have old TB scar on lungs last7 years ago so, sometime it show  in some x ray but it doesn't show in some x ray so, can I  try in Dubai Sir.please reply

qwerty24

TB scars will show in xray. And if they do, Dubai will cancel your entry permit and put a permanent ban.

XTang

No one can answer you as none of us have seen your X-ray report.  Scars, by themselves, are not an issue. Scars being diagnosed as past TB is the issue. I keep repeating this on these forums and have done so for the last 10 years - read the thread.   TB scars are quite distinctive and can't be mistaken for anything else - generally speaking.
