Hungarian Citizenship via Verification

I have applied for my Hungarian Citizenship 1 year ago but there seems to be a problem.

My Mother was born in Hungary and my Father was born in Romania but was brought up in Hungary from birth. Has old Hungarian passports, Marriage certificate, school and work books.

I sent all documents apart from my Father's birth certificate which I do not have.

Budapest are insisting they need  my Father's birth certificate which I am trying to obtain from Romania through the consulate but is taking a long long time. I just can't understand why they can't grant this from my Mother's side as she was born in Hungary.

Budapest has extended the period for my case but I am worried that they may reject my application due to my Father's birth certificate. I am  going to  send my Grandparents (on mother's side birth and marriage certificate's to proof direct lineage. is this going to be enough or will I have to reapply ? Has anyone any advise?

You don't mention your age. If born before Oct 1, 1957, citizenship usually passes only through the father.

That apart, the bureaucracy has its boxes to check.

Apologies, both Romania and Hungary are part of EU (Romania with Schengen remains to be seen). However I would say no issue whatsoever.

I am Dutch and so is my wife (orignally from Kyrgyzstan, being Dutch is not easy, but very well possible)

Again if beig part of the EU, what is the problem, you have rights.

No indication there he has taken Romanian citizenship. Might be very difficult without his father's Romanian birth certificate.

It depends on the member's nationality, if they are 3CN, then, of course, they will want to get Hungarian citizenship because they will get freedom of movement.

IDK but it seems the gov. wants the birth ertificates of both parents.

A year isn't to bad to wait.

We asked at the city hall here how long it usually takes to get HU citizenship and were told at least a year. ( I was considering it for a min.)

The president of Hungary is the only person who approves any citizenship papers. That's what we were told at least.

Everything is getting harder and harder to do in these past few years.

They want just about everything except for your blood type. That's coming i'm sure!

You should be approved but they are dragging their feet.

Hang in there, it's coming.

When my husband applied for HU citizenship for our son he was still a minor.

Not sure if that matters or not with things going faster if a child is involved or not. We sent the papers to the HU embassy in Ca. where we then lived. They only took a few months but that was over 25 years ago. ( Not too many people were asking for it back then perhaps?)

I'm sure you'll get it no worries, they probably will wait until your fahters paperwork is submitted though.
