Finding a job with orange card / annex 19ter

Post new topic

Hi,

My husband (NON EU) and I (EU) applied for family reunification at the commune on 3d January 2024. He came to

belgium on a visa c and we got

married in December 2023.

He received the annex 19ter and we were sent home to wait for the police check.

the police  came on the very same day and she told us that in a week or 2 the commune would call us to come for the orange card.

Today is the second week so we are expecting the call soon.

I want to know by experience, how was it finding a job with only the annex 19ter or orange card?

does it affect when registering or applying jobs?

I recommend to call city hall to have an appointment. For me police didn't say something like that and I went to city hall next day police checked me. He can apply any job he wants, he has right to work with Annex 19 already.

hi Berna yea indeed he has access to the job market but i was wondering if employers are not skeptical about employees who have a temporary card like the orange card.

was it wasy for you to find work? my husband also doesnt speak french mor dutch?

do you have some recommendations on where to start?

thanks

Depends on the field but most employers are finding orange card easier than A card. Because for A card, they need to involve into the prosedure and they need to 45.000 euros per year. But for orange card they dont need to fill this kind of requirements. i wish you good luck.

Employers only care to make sure he/she can legally work. Orange card and annex 19ter is enough.

I would suggest to register first in interim agencies so he can find quickly something. Also he can register for Dutch or French classes as well

Ehi my husband was able to find a job in the end but his contract had to be limited to the expiry date of his orange card. they actually wanted to give him a longer contract but they can't.

now my question is can the immigratiom office release the f card earlier on the basis that the company would want to extend his contract? Anyone had experIence with this?
