Public transportation in Florence

Post new topic

Armand

Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Florence ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Florence?

Thanks in advance for participating!

i use the bus, it is quite safe, and it runs very frequently . fare is Eu1.20 for one ride , they also have "carte agile" which is a pass for 10 rides ( 10 euros ) , 20 rides 20 euros etc etc. much easier and you need to validate your ticket on the bus or else you can get a fine. they also have monthly passes. they have regular buses run by the company ATAF. and they have SITA ( which tend to go further out of the city but can be more comfortable. air conditioned and nice seats ) . They also have a tram ( electric train ) that goes from the station to scandicci. good luck!

The bus network covers the whole of Florence, you can see timetables and lines at the site
It used to be quite reliable, now that the Piazza Duomo is closed to traffic it is a bit difficult to go through the city.
Do not trust the timetables so much - especially during the day. Usually the first buses in the day are the most reliable.
60 minutes ride costs 1.20 euro, but you can buy a agile card, 10 euros for 10 rides
It is absolutely safe. Watch out of pickepockets, anyway, especially in the center.
