Rob, I can't remember, did you get in under the "old" pre-Brexit rules, or the post-Brexit rules?

I believe if you have residency under the old rules there's no requirement to be in Bulgaria any length of time at all, but under the new rules it's at least 183 days a year in Bg. As I understand it that doesn't need to be in one stay, it can be spread across the year.

But hopefully someone with more definite knowledge will chime in!

Fab! I though you had. I am kicking myself so hard I didn't make the effort to get over to Bg to get in under the pre-Brexit rules. But hubby was ill and everything was so uncertain....

He's much better now, just back from a trip to Bulgaria. We're still in the UK, spending whatever time we can at our village house, slowly renovating it, learning more Bulgarian, and waiting it out till I reach pension age and we move permanently.

If it helps, I also signed up before the end of the transition period.

Just exchanged my 5 years for the permanent 10 years and wasn't asked about my time in BG. Very lucky to have got it, as I didn't spend much time in BG over the 5 years.
