Document Legalization for Reunification Visa Application

I hope you are doing well. I reside in Pakistan and recently married a Costa Rican citizen through an online marriage service based in the USA. We have successfully submitted our marriage certificate to the Costa Rican government, and I am now recognized as her husband in the official records.

I have already legalized my documents, issued in Pakistan, through the Embassy of Costa Rica in the UAE as part of the immigration process for a Reunification Visa. Could you please confirm if it is also necessary to have these documents attested (legalized) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Costa Rica before submitting them to the immigration office?

The legal process you're referring to is called "apostiling". In that process, the country which originates the document(s) verifies that they are authentic following procedures outlines in the treaty which they have joined. In other words, it is Pakistan who must apostile your marriage documents. The government of Costa Rica has no standing to authenticate Pakistani documents.

All the documents are already been legalized by the embassy of Costa Rica UAE which was the requirement to make the document able to be recognized in Costa Rica, but now before submitting them to immigration to start the process (For Visa) we need to attest them from the Foreign ministry of the Costa Rica first and then submit it to immigration! Do you have any idea how much they charge for attesting from Foreign ministry of the Costa Rica?
