Bringing my rescued dogs to Costa Rica

Post new topic

My husband and I, together with our four rescued dogs and possibly a fifth one that we are fostering want to move to Costa Rica from Miami, Florida by the middle of next year. The problem is that two of our dogs are Pugs which are too big to fit under the seat and cannot travel with the luggage because of breathing problems. The two large dogs could travel with the luggage but we don't know what to do about the pugs. We have tried to looking into ships that could take them or cargo planes but have n ot had any success. This is the only thing stopping us from finalizing our plans. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about that
Thanks
Ana

have you investigated vets in your area too?

Do you know if any airlines would let me pay for an extra seat and bring my pugs in the cabin with me. I have spoken to my vet but she doesn't know of any other way. Thans for replying

Dogs Are Love

How is your search going? Have you found transportation to CR?
We are living in Mexico with our 10 rescued dogs that we brought down with us from the States and now we are thinking of moving to Costa Rica--so my search is just beginning on how to get them there from here.

Well, we are in the process of getting our larger pugs as "emotional support "  dogs so that they can travel in the cabin with us, the smaller pug fits in the required carrier, the two larger dogs will have no choice than travel with the luggage, it terrifies me but we don't know what else to do. We found private plane charters that would fly us all but it is cost prohibited for us. The other problem we are having is finding a house to rent with the dogs, it is not that common there even in more rural areas. How did you get your dogs to Mexico?   Did you have to quarantine them?  Have you looked into the cost of chartering a plane from Mexico to CR?   I would imagine it is a lot less than from the states. .....

try Jetpets or World Pet Travel.  I think that is what we will
probably do when the time comes.  Or maybe we will try the emotional thing you mentioned earlier.  Never heard of that before.  Can you explain a little more to me about it please.  I just don't like the idea of my dogs going in the hold.
