Recently on the lookout for a new place, I thought it may be of interest for those looking , to sift through some of the descriptions found in ad placements.
Categories -
Penthouse - Usually top floor, with a terrace, and sole use of roof. Could be shared with other apartments airconditioning units on the roof.
Apartment - Without a terrace, but with balconies in some cases.
Maisonette - Apartment with a door which you can call your own.
Terraced House -Â House on two or more levels, possibly with a garage or backyard, and roof
Town House -Â House on two or more levels, without garage.
Villas and Bungalows are standard houses with the Bungalow being single storey , both having a garage, garden and pool in some cases.
These are further subdivided into
Detached - Dont hear the neighbours, Private
Semi Detached - Not as private, with neighbours on a shared wall
House of Character - Something which is falling apart, and old
further subdivided into
Converted - somebodys had an attempt at trying to fix it
Unconverted - Nobodys bothered , it will cost a fortune to repair.
Property in development comes in various stages
Finished - it has a roof, and windows. without a bathroom, and kitchen , missing internal doors, the floor and any lighting
Unfinished - someone had the idea, built something and forgot about it
On Plan - someone has the idea, hasnt gotten any approval yet, and will sit on the cash from deposits at 5% for 10 years.
Descriptions in the ad placements itself and meanings.
Brand New unfurnished - Just been built , nobody has tested any equipment to see if its working properly,may see some teething issues.
Designer - Somebody has attempted to decorate according to various magazine cutouts of the seventies, and colour coded according to traffic lights.
Modern - Fairly new, things are generally working, and in good condition.
Cosy - Cant swing a cat
Central Location - Noisy, drunk students, great for parties.
Near shopping centres - Disturbances from delivery vehicles , honking from 7 am.
Side sea view - if you stick your neck out, and turn and face at angle X, you will spot a glimpse of blue, allegedly the sea.
Refurbished - Same old , same old, but someone has attempted to paint it.
Well furnished - too many pieces from various pawn shops.
Luxurious - Cant afford it if you have to ask for it / or someone has spent unwisely
Unobstructed views - the planning permits for the vacant lots have been issued but nobodys built ...yet
Airy - Cant heat it up in winter
