Hiyya, Ya'all,
It seems like ages since I left Libya. I was on the last flight out bound for Tunis on 12 Mar 2011. I really miss Libya. I was very happy there.
Anyway ... on to business ...
I'm a UK graduate teacher with QTS (qualified teacher status) and qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language.
Does anyone have any suggestions about schools or colleges to get in touch with that might be hiring?
Looking forward to lots of positive replies :-)
Seymour
Hi Seymour, don't forget that you may also post an advert in the section Jobs in Tripoli, it may help.

Hi Seymour
I was also ion Tripoli until the end of February last year!Ìý Planning to go back in August - will be managing a new language centre opening up in Tripoli.Ìý However, being new we will probably only be taking on one or two teachers initially, so I cant promise you anything at this stage.Ìý But if you would like me to keep you in mind when we do start, please PM me, and we can talk some more.Ìý Failing that, TIS (Tripoli International School) is an established primary and secondary school just off Treeg al Matar, and they plan to start a language centre as part of their operation shortly.Ìý You could give them a call and speak to Graham Lind, the principal.Ìý Tell him I told you to call.Ìý
His number is: 0924717845
And his email is: lind.gp@gmail.com
Hope you settle in well, and get work soon!Ìý :-)Ìý
All the best.
Jenni
Thanks for the suggestion, Jenni. I've actioned that.
Wish you well going back. You're bound to enjoy it. You seem like the kind of person who enjoys whatever they do.
I hope the suggestions keep on flowing.

Hello Harmonie,
(What a beautiful name you have!)
I posted in the jobs section as you suggested. It took a couple of days for the posting to appear, but I'm pleased with it. I don't know how effective it might be, but "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
Here's hoping that it gets results :-)
Almost three weeks to the day after starting my search I have been offered a job! Within another two days I've been offered three more jobs.
So there are teaching jobs available in Libya to those willing to go out and search for them.
I hope to meet some more ex-pat teachers in Tripoli over the next few months.
Congratulations, Seymour!!!Ìý Very happy for you.Ìý Is it with TIS, or somewhere else?...Hope to meet up with you when I get back...Ìý :-)
All the best
Jenni
Hello Jenni
R u already there in Libya or still planning?
Jenni , i am also moving to Tripoli in next few months.
I am not sure of one thing though, may be u can help.
1. Does you require an entry/ exit visa every time you leave /enter libya say for your vacations or if you are leaving in emergency for some problem back home.Ìý I will be havingÌý a work permit and a residency. Will i still be required to take Entry/exit visa everytime.
2. Are there any agents in libya who can arrange for entry/exitÌý visa or your employer has to do that? I was concerned as suppose your boss doesnt want to leave you then can he still hold u back.
I will be thankful if you can reply.
Thanks

Thanks in advance and looking forward to hear you,
two new school advertising for teachers have passed my radar
Tripoli World Academy -
and apparently the Canadians are bucking the no-go US/UK trend and opening up as well!
Hi there!!
I'm sorry that i am only responding now - but have been travelling on and off since the beginning of August!Ìý Have now finally arrived in Tripoli - and busy settling in.Ìý Taking a while tho, as with everything in Libya!!Ìý ;-)
To try to answer your questions as best I can:
1) I will also be getting a work permit/1 year residency shortly, but as this will be my first time with that in my passport, not sure exactly how the entry/exit works!!Ìý Until now i have always had a multiple entry business visa - those are valid for 6 months and you need to go in and out every 2 months.Ìý They get stamped by immigration upon departure, and again upon return.Ìý No need for a letter or anything from your employer.Ìý At the mo I am in on a 1 month business visa - to be changed into a 1 year residency in the next few weeks, as i said.
2) If you are on the business visa, you dont need permission from your employer to leave, as it is a legal requirement to leave every two months!!!Ìý So no matter what your boss says - he cannot hold you in the country if you are here on a business visa.Ìý However, the residency may be a different story - i heard while i was here with previous regime you need a letter to leave when you have that - but as i never had it, i never had to test that!!Ìý So this will be a first for me as well as you...Ìý :-)
Not sure if that helps - once i get mine, I can let you know more...Ìý :-)
All the best as you settle in, and God Bless!

Hi Hilton
Sorry my friend - my centre will be an English Language Centre - we need native speakers ONLY to teach our students, so i'm afraid i cant help you - you need to put an application in the jobs section, stating what you are looking for.Ìý That is where you will have the best opportunity....Ìý :-)
God Bless.
