Driving license in Sri Lanka

Post new topic

Armand

Hi all,

Can a foreigner take the driving test in Sri Lanka?

What are the formalities to get a driverÂ’s licence in Sri Lanka?

Do you need special or extra documents being an expatriate?

How much does it cost?

Thank you for participating ;).

While I worked there, my Company did that for me. I merely gave them my home licence and a photo and got a Sri Lanka licence in return.  No test whatsoever. It was issued by the Police Dept in Colombo and I believe it was a nominal fee charged.

Hi Everyone,
To get a driving lisence for a foreigner, he needs to have 6 months visa to stay in Sri Lanka, Passport, diving lisence from home country and it will cost around US$135. You should be able to get lisence in1-2 days. To get more informatin about validity, you can call AA of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) 0722 755 557. Easiest way to get this done would be through a local driving schools.
All the best
Jonny
