you're right. Though I saw one guy in Riyadh inviting everyone for Iftar.
Count me in. I'm more than willing to help and join this BBQ party.
Let's give MikaTech all the support to make this possible.
can see where this will end
I would love to join in too.....a little difficult as I'm miles away in Qassim (there's definitley no parties here!!) but if we schedule a set date I will do my best to arrange a flight to come for the weekend!

Hi All
Sorry for not being online much, been back home for a while, had
some business to take care of, arriving back in Saudi on Saturday.
Need to check if the accomodation, I have been waiting for is now finaly available, if not, will have to see what i can do, perhaps have the party in my Private Villa, hmm!! not sure yet?
either way will keep you updated......
still waiting for the kind news of yours mika . Thanks for the update .
I am interested in the BBQ or whatever type of get-togther.I am married and have 3 kids. Do any of you have kids and we can have them all keep each other occupied. I am in my 30's and not boring, though! I am definitely needing some adult interaction and some type of social event other than shopping. My family also has an apartment, but no pool or balcony. We are not in a compound either-so of course this limits us to social interactions and BBQing. Has the date/time been set? -Andrea
Hi all,
still working on it ha??
Ok I have a bit of good news for u :-) and Mika I guess its time to steal some of ur lights :-p
Well as I mentioned earlier on this forum I have a friend who would love to take care of such things. She lives in a compound so we can have it in her balcony or the park around her apartment. To be honest at first I thought of asking her permission to throw a few invitations but as the number of ppl is growing here I'm thinking It would be very tactful if we all offer to chip in ...let's say 50 SR per person including salad and drinks.
Tell me all what u think about it so I can have a talk with her about this.
Good luck to us :-)

Hey Sweetlina
I Will come for sure if your friend invites me, and more than happy to help her out with the cooking if she wants, but, i dont have a female friend to bring i'm afraid, so hope thats not a problem.
Hi again!!
Guess what??1!
I talked to my friend this morning and she is so excited to do it probably next weekend.
so what we need to do here is make a list of ppl who want to join most likely not more than 15 and I might drop my phone number here later to make it easy for us to contact.
@ Mika of course u r invited !!! besides we definitely need ur help:-) The point of this is to get together , know eachother more and of course have fun :-)
cheers,
Lina
@ Jaykhalil we are not trying to make any kind of profit here as I said we are there to enjoy our time and have fun :-)

M sure you are n that's why consider me in
I fly in Thursday night! A BBQ after only a week in KSA would be one heck of a welcoming party :-pÂ
I'm in if I'm invited. (I would imagine I can bring up to 2 other coworkers if that's wanted. But if not I'm not sure how I'd get there otherwise :-/ )
Dear Friend,
As I know, If you are living in compound, then U can have BBQ parties everyday provided that you have enough space.
Some compounds are compact type while others have enough area for entertainment activities.
Even outside the compound you can have BBQ, if you don't sing. But I have never seen any European expatriates have parties in public beaches.
However there are private beaches which BBQ parties available all around the year. (same like western culture)
Alex
That's sounds great, Its boring here i don't know what to do for fun except sleeping at home after work
Most people (Expats) in Jeddah ...or in Saudi in general are paranoied...there has to be a rule that expat communities dont mix with Saudis when it comes to parties and socialising...this is simply for one reason...once a saudi is involved he will invite others and will talk about the event...once this is out, all you get is problems with saudi authorities and religious police. gatherings of females and males if they are not related is forbidden in Saudi....so make sure you form your own community that is limited to none saudis.
let me know how you get on. I am in UK at present but will be back to Saudi next week.
For those who dont know how to fill thier time during the weekend...take up a hobby...scuba diving for example...The Red Sea is at your door step. people travel from far away to dive in the Red Sea.
As for parties and BBQ...well...these things are kept low profile and are mostly in compounds....
if you live on a compound you will know what I am talking about.
Thanks for the tip Hyper. We are trying to be very careful here.
@ PAk you are absolutely in Im not sure about your coworkers though. Getting there is not a problem .The place is very well-known you just get a cab and you ask him to take you there..Dont worry it's very managable :-)
