How do you bank in China?

I basically have US money that I want to deposit in my US accounts so I can buy things on e-bay and have them shipped here. How do you do that? And, can you you get a Chinese bank account and use that to buy things from American online vendors?

Hi ookami597,

Depending on what you are looking to purchase, I'd recommend using Taobao.com聽 (see taobaofieldguide.com) Its cheap and quick and you don't have to deal with customs. Forget about shipping any electronics here- huge pain.

China banks work with Alipay- which is like Paypal. I don't believe there's crossover to eBay though. Admittedly, I have friends on the US side helping handle my accts for my online purchases. Hope you find what you are looking for.
