Giving presents to Libyans- Whats the protocol?

Post new topic

Hi all.
I am meant to be in Lbya next week and have several meetings organised. I was wanting to give Natural Scottish Soaps as a gift box. However I wonder if people would take this as an insult.
Any views greatly appreciated
Cheers

I always tend to buy a big tin of Quality Street for the ladies, which goes down very well. Your idea of soap should go down a treat! ;)

Ha ha - had to laugh out loud!Ìý These guys love their bloody Quality Street.Ìý I have been on the London to Tripoli BA flight about 5 times and every time I am fighting for overhead compartment space over the quadrillion tins of duty free Quality Street!Ìý Guess I am not the only one that's noticed!Ìý

I agree you'll be just fine with the soap SNA.Ìý Libyans are quite easy going that way.Ìý I think you'd be hard pressed to offend them with a gift.Ìý Three simple rules to keep you golden - no pigs, no booze, no Israel.

Dear Friend,
To the best of my knowledge:
Libyans respect Gifts given with respect and affection.

They like Attractive packing and fragrance.

Fragrance (Good smell like sandal wood or rose)in soap, fragrance sticks, good quality scent is appreciated.

Chocolates and silk neck ties are also appreciated.

With best wishes
Caring Friend
