Post new topic

I love Vietnamese food, but the quantity of food is just unbelievably few. I usually eat 3 times as vietnamese eat, it real freak other people out in the restaurant, While waiter bring food to my table again and again. So I bought a Induction cook...
Is just me or you all feel the same?

I'm with you. I just always tell everybody that in here the portions are smaller than where I'm coming from ;)

Portion sizes are indeed smaller here. Coming from the US, where you get a lot more, it's actually helped me to lose over 15 kg so to me its a positive. :D

On another note, buffets are popping up more and more in Saigon. Some range from 250K and up. So if you are hungry and want more for yourself, I recommend hitting up the buffets.

It depends a little bit. Especially here in NT, there are some meals, which having even for western over-sizes. Those Hotpots, often coming with a salad, meat, fish egg inclusive, than followed by the hotpot.
I am a good eater and can eat of most vietnamese meals 2-3-4 portions without any issue. However those hotpots and on some places some kind of BBQs fill me so up, that I often ask for a doggy bag (yes, and it goes to the dogs).
I am sure, you gonna find similar places in Saigon outside the tourist lines.

Don't know what size person you are, but I'm a pretty big guy, and when I eat a big bowl of Pho noodle soup and drink most of the soup after I finish eating the noodles, I'm pretty full. I'm in agreement with l3ully also - the hot pots with all the trimmings are very filling. Maybe you're just not eating the right stuff.

Seriously? The pho noodle on street? For me that just appetizer, I get more hungry after I ate that.
I Find out it probably related  latitude and temperature. People from a country that the more closer to the equator, the less the eat. I traveled a lots of Africa country, it works there. And it works in china too.

Yes, the Pho's are a bit small, been in Hanoi already - yes, they where actually only about 75% of the size here and the noodles going with it - also feel very light to me.

There are other soups, spaghetti like noodles, going with a whole pork feet or belly meat and a blood cloth.

I am sure, such places are around everywhere.
