Places to visit in Seremban

Post new topic

Julie

Hi,

For the ones living in Seremban, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in Seremban, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in Seremban?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

There is also the wooden palace - wikipedia.org/wiki/Seri_Menanti

Sri Menanti
Sri Menanti is the royal town which boasts both ancient and modern palaces. The Istana Sri Menanti was built in 1902 and completed in 1908. This wooden palace was built without using a single nail and features a long verandah and a front porch with intricately carved motifs. It is raised 2 metres above ground, supported by 99 pillars which symbolises the 99 warriors of different clans.

This magnificent Istana (palace) is now a museum showcasing costumes, ceremonial kris and photographs. The current official residence is called the Istana Besar which is an impressive whitewashed stone building.

Getting There
Situated 30Km east of Seremban, the best way to get there is either by bus from the central bus station in Seremban town or by taxi.

Hi,
I've just joined this forum.  I moved to Seremban from Australia, about 8 months ago and have been enjoying the slower pace of life here as compared to KL.  Seremban is growing rapidly and in the next 5 to 10 years would probably be the place to stay and relax south of KL.   Seremban was actually a mining town and I'm lucky enough to live in the area where the first British Captain Resident stayed in the 1940's.

Walk around Seremban town to explore the old buildings and the Chinese grocery shops or check out Jelita Ostrich Farm on the way to Jelebu and my favourite personal choice, Ladang Alam Warisan, near Kuala Pilah which offers visitors a look into the Malay culture and the rare experience of horseback riding and archery, Ulu Bendul forest reserve for nature walks and a dip in the rock pools or free swimming pool.

The first weekend of March will be the full migration of raptor birds from Central Asia to Indonesia. And they will fly across Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve in Port Dickson, about 20 km from Seremban town.  It will be a sight!  So plenty to see and do. And don't forget to stop by the many restaurants by the beach for fresh seafood.
