Best ways to safely transport pets to and fro Puerto Rico

This is why I would never put my dog in the cargo. This is actually common and they have statistics that come out every year about how many animals die in the cargo. I believe United or Delta had the most deaths in the last 10 years.

Most airlines are not accepting emotional support animals anymore. Must be a service dog or fit within whatever rules they have for either in cabin or crated. I flew my 2 cats from FLL to SJU and had all the necessary paperwork from vet and no one even looked at them even when we asked for private screening room to be sure they didn’t try to escape. They were very well behaved and arrived safely ready to explore their new home.

Hello,
I'm posting a link to the Top Ten Pet Couriers 2021. I have a dog and I will be calling all of these Pet Couriers to find out which one best suits our dog. My dog is my son and I will do what is necessary to make sure he arrives safely.

Hello Everyone,
I need to transport my house trained pitbull to Puerto Rico. Due to the pandemic everything and everyone has gone crazy. Which airline will transport dogs no matter what breed they are to Puerto Rico? Don't ask me to call the airline because they never pickup. If you recommend a speific company that transports dogs worldwide please provide me with the information. Thank you for any and all information on this subject.

Hi👋🏾 I will most likely be sending my dog to PR in a couple of weeks. As of now I’ve been in contact with Ebenezer Dog & Cat Shipping Services, I believe they’re based out of Fajardo PR but also have an office in Kissimmee FL. They have been very responsive and professional with answering all my questions and concerns. They post videos several times a week of dogs they are transporting, they seem to be taking great care with peoples pets. Check them out, I think they will be a good choice.

Wildane Kennels is one of the oldest and best pet shippers in PR.  Call us 1-787-887-2140 or E-mail: < wildanekennels@gmail.com >  They will help you and know the precise answer to your question.

I fear you may be out of luck, however.  I have heard that all passenger airlines have stopped shipping short nose breeds such as boxers, pugs, bull dogs and pit bulls because so many of them die of breathing problems in cargo.  It may even be a new regulation.

We were told this same thing apx 3 yrs ago when we actually rescued a dog from PR and flew them to the states.

It also maybe too hot to ship pets as cargo until weather cools off, some carriers stop during summer.

Hi all! Just wanted to give an update - we did end up using Ebenezer Dog & Cat Shipping Services a few weeks ago to transport our dog. He is a Cane Corso, he arrived to Puerto Rico from NJ healthy and safe. I recommend looking into them if anyone is in need of a dog transport service.

@nobodycares

Were you able to fly your pit bull to PR?

@acosta507

I will look into that company. I have 3 dogs (medium to large) and 2 cats I plan to bring to PR when I move there.

We brought 2 cats with us carriers when we moved here August 2020 on jetblue. We flew out of FLL & requested private security check so they didn’t get removed from the carriers

we fly Southwest all tge time with our toy poodles.

I put a dog in Cargo once years ago, my poor baby was full of piss, an anxious mess and frightened when I got him. I would never do it again. I will book a private jet to PR when I move. I already know how much it will cost so we are good. Some people say it is a waste of money, but I don't care he is my baby boy. I would never abandon an animal because I am moving, that is nuts.

Agree. Pers are family.!

southwest allows you to use a certified carrier to fly with you in the cabin.

we dont have a large dog, but ive seen them also in the cabin.

My wife and I are flying out on 12/11/24 on American Airlines and they had no issue with me carrying 2 5lb Maltese girls in a single carrier and my wife carrying our other 2 5lb Maltese girls.  The carriers are TSA approved. I upgraded to first class to do it but it was still cheaper then paying them to fly in the cargo hold.
