Looking for some help getting my Birth Certificate

HI my name is Robert Oliveri and I was born in Port Moresby European Hospital in the 1950's well before independence.聽 I am trying to get my own Birth Certificate replaced and I am running into some difficulties. So I was wondering if someone up there could assist me.聽 I was told to ring the hospital however all I got there was some smarty wanting US$1500 to fax me a fake copy.聽 From what I read now it is probably the Department of Community.聽 Can anyone help me with some information?聽 Thanks
