Credit Card application process

Post new topic

Vincent Hegarty

I am an ex-pat from Ireland living in Dubai since October 2015.

I have been through all the necessary processes to reside and work here, residency visa, National ID card etc.

I opened a bank account with a bank in Abu Dhabi (won't mention the specific name) and to say the least, they have been less than helpful.

On opening the account I received my debit card within a few days and I was told that as soon as my monthly salary was lodged into my account I would receive my credit card (first salary lodged was December due to delays in getting my National ID card). I provided all the necessary documentation (salary certificate etc.,) but I am now being told that the credit card is being held up as the bank need to do a "HR verification" and a "remote visit" to my place of employment?

Is this a normal process in the UAE or is this specific to this particular bank?

If normal then I may have an issue. I work from my residence and the registered office for my company is purely a sales office which is vacant more often than not as my colleagues and I travel a significant amount for our work so may not/will note be available for a "remote visit".

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Thank you

The bank will call your HR department and will confirm your position and salary details that you have provided to them. That's all the requirement to issue a credit card. No mater where your work location is, they want to make sure that you are an employee of your company.

Thank you Shanafashyaana for your reply.

They may have a problem then as the HR department that services our needs is based in the UK.

The procedure is, a confirmation call will be done to your company and someone should be able to provide the details. They will ask your date of joining, your designation, salary and your status like you are permanent or on probation etc. No worries if there is one to answer. ;)
