Environmental protection in Sri Lanka

Post new topic

Kenjee

Hi,

Environmental protection is a challenging issue for all the countries around the world. Would you say this issue is deemed of significance in Sri Lanka?

Is the country going green through initiatives like waste management and selective sorting programs, renewable energies, public transport, green awareness campaigns and so forth?

How do you personally commit to improve the environment in your daily life?

We would greatly appreciate if you could tell us more about the various local initiatives for sustainable development in Sri Lanka.

Many thanks in advance!

I am in the process on completing an MSc in Environment Management with the University of Colombo. I am originally from Nigeria but have lived in Sri Lanka for almost a decade.
At the moment i am doing research on Shoreline erosion management  and the perception of the coastal communities.
As an academic, i am driven to investigate up-to-date  research and write easy to digest writing for the general public about environmental issues.
I am new to the field so am no expert.
But a have a few articles on LinkedIn

Hi Maryanne K,

Thank you for your response  :)

On a day-to-day basis, do you yourself apply some little changes to your routine so as to protect the environment ?

Cheers,
Bhavna
