Hi All
My name is Thando, my husband recently got an expat job in Port Vila Vanuatu.
I must be honest I am really confused as to whether this will be a good move or what?Â
I would really like to know how is to live in Vanuatu currently? hows the standard of living there, are there nice houses to live in for a family? Crime? Is it a safe environment to raise 2 year old and a 3 year old (boys), is it safe to have a nanny there?Â
Another thing if we all move there I will have to live my full time job but I would love to continue with my cake business, how viable is that business there, is it even easy to start a business in Vanuatu? my kids will they able to get good schools there?Â
The climate how is it? How's the risk of catching maleria?
One last thing for now, what would you advise we bring along from here? Food item is it allowed that we bring some things over?Â
Excuse my long essay but I have a lot of question and I really hope to get answers to, please do respond friends.Â
Thanks
Thando
Hi Thando I was in the same boat a few years ago with the twenty questions the best advice I could give you is it will be the adventure of a lifetime ,with a grounding effect and a grip on reality you never new you needed
Personally you could not pay me enough to live in villa or any where you needed a big hi fence I have a ocean front property in the bush near a very good village ,the most important thing is to learn the culter and assimilate into it and you will find true beauty in the place and the people
It won't come with out some testing from the odd local person but keep your eye on the ball and all will be good
Service is poor and the driving can be interesting but after a while you will either see the humor in things or leave I sincerely believe that living in Vanuatu makes you a better person with better values and tolerances and is really worth the journey
Regards Bob
