part-time living on the island in Greece?

Post new topic

PUNA

Hi there!

I'm from Ljubljana (Slovenia) and I'm thinking of spending half of the year (november - april) somewhere close to the sea - and where the sun is shining :)

I'm after intimate places with character, good sunny weather, old and beautiful town architecture, welcome locals, amazing food, art & culture. I have visited Creta 3 times, the island is beautiful but unfortunately a bit to large for me - any other suggestions? I was thinking of Rhodos, Lesbos .. maybe Santorini?

I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you very much, Pia

Hello!

As a Cyclades citizen, Naxos more specifically, let me tell you Santorini has absolutely no life during the period you mentioned. I've been in Santorini way to many times during April - September, but I only visited once during November for my birthday and it was so empty, it was kind of scary. Shops also closed really early and it wasn't so much fun.

Rhodes on the other hand sounds like a really nice choice, as it's a big island and you always have things to do. You could also try Ionian island, Corfu, which is beautiful all year long. :)

What about Corfy or Crete? Are there any opportunities for nice winter instead of spending it in snowy Serbia?

Mamma Mia

I live up north and find the island of Thassos really beautiful, all year around. Of course it´s quiet in the winter, but not dead. Besides, very easy accessible from the mainland.

Hi,
we live in Corfu and it is really beautiful all year round, especially the springtime. Corfu Town has wonderful architecture and lots of great shops and a very cosmopolitan feel, but there are many rural, quiet villages to explore too, [Moderated: No free ad on the forum please]
