Keeping in touch while living in Canada

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

What are the best ways you've found for keeping in touch with friends and family back home while living in Canada? How frequently do you stay in touch with loved ones?

Are there local equivalents to common instant messaging and online video calling services that you prefer or are more widely used?

If there is a sizeable time difference, how do you manage this?

Do you make international phone calls from a landline or mobile phone from Canada? What do you think of the cost?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

That doesn't cut it here!  You need to post in a contributive manner here if you're going to be a real member of this forum.  Also, this is not a chat room.

If you have information or experiences to share about the topic, please do so :)

Hi there,

Since my parents are not very advance in technology, I prefer to call them to their home phone or cell phones using one of the cheapest netphone; . The connection is pretty good and reliable. I also keep my relationship with my family off the social media, so yeah, we are not big on sharing news on instagram or facebook.

As for the time gap, Indonesia is about 11 to 12 hours in advance, so I mostly call my family during on weekends. I also try to come home once a year.

How about you guys? do share :)

Generally to get a touch of closeness especially for near and dear once. I would love talking on either Skype or whats app especially in video calling.

I recommend even other to go for it.
