How long will my work pass (EP, S-Pass, WP) application take

Post new topic

sgtechguy81

My Employment Pass (EP) application was submitted on October 22nd. All educational verifications were completed prior to submission.

Currently, the application status remains pending.  The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) contacted my employer a week ago to inform them that processing may take up to three months, without providing a specific reason for the delay.

Consequently, my employer has adjusted the tentative joining date and advised me to wait.

I'm perplexed by this extended processing time, especially since some applications are approved within 10 days.  My educational qualifications were pre-verified, and I scored 40 points on the COMPASS evaluation, leading me to expect a quicker decision.

@sgtechguy81 Sorry to say, but MoM is not obliged to follow your expectations of a faste turnaround (nor any other external factor we know of). They simply take as long as they see fit, and you can only wait patienly - or cancel/withdraw the application.

@beppi

Hello Beppi, do you know if the employer makes an appeal to an application, will the status change from Invalid to Pending? Or it will remain Invalid before the appeal is approved.

Nav M

My EP application was rejected two weeks back. Till a few days ago, the MoM portal showed the EP Application as "invalid" and now it says no record found. My employer is coordinating with the MOM to file an appeal. Would anyone know why the status page is not visible anymore?

beppi

@gummybear21 During appeal processing, it used to remain in "invalid" previously, but after a system update showed "pending" again. Not sure about the current status. Ask your employer!

beppi

@Nav M "No record found" is definitely incorrect. If your employer can also not see it any more, they should contact MoM to inquire about this!

Nav M

@beppi - many thanks. Turns out the MoM status check page was down and was not showing the correct status. It is working now.

@aimocomia

Hi, how did you get the approval update? Did you get notification sent to your email by MOM? or did you regularly check the EP status on MOM website?

aimocomia

@aricbdf

I regularly check the ep site, I sometimes ask the hr if there is an email received from MOM as well.

ramk495

Hi,

My E pass got rejected and my hr has got the details of certifications I have done related to my job and courses in my UG and reappealed.

Ep applied on nov 5

Reject on nov 15

Reappealed on nov 20

Changed to pending on nov 21since then it is still in pending.

Any experienced ones think there is a chance for approval? I was taken aback when the reason hr stated that mom need clarifications on ug course modules related to my job. I am from india and most of us get into it through engineering degree and work in different field's of it.and I personally know ppl who have been working in sg in it field with their degree in different field.so I don't know am just plain unlucky or what.I have 8 years of experience in the job I have been selected in sg.

@ramk495 was the education details you mentioned in the EP application form verified before u applied ?

ramk495

@avinashjha

Yes, it was even verified by employer from their side itself.once verifier, then only my employer proceeded to apply for EP.

avinashjha

@ramk495 okay. Then you can only wait. Sometimes MOM officer looking at the application does make extra checks. All the best to you. Hope for soon approval.

Nav M

@ramk495 - sometimes the EP application is rejected if a minor detail is incorrect or not mentioned properly even if educational verification is complete. Hopefully your employer can put forward a strong appeal and address the MoM's issue. My appeal was approved and I got my IPA in 10 days (from appeal).

EP applied - 14 October

EP Application Rejected - 15 November

Appealed - 4 December

IPA issued - 16 December

@Nav M

Is it your first EP ?

How much work experience do you hold?

gummybear21

Hello,

My EP application was recently rejected by MOM, with the reason being that my degree in Information Engineering is classified as more aligned with engineering rather than the requirements for IT roles listed under the Shortage Occupation List (SOL). However, my transcript shows that I’ve taken numerous Computer Science-related modules, such as programming, software engineering, and data structures and I did my previous internships with the software engineering roles also. My company has suggested reaching out to my faculty dean to request a recommendation letter as additional support for the reapplication. Do you think a recommendation letter from the school, especially since I’m a Tuition Grant recipient from SG local government university, would help strengthen my case with MOM?

avinashjha

@gummybear21 are you not clearing minimum 40 score on COMPASS without applying under Skills shortage occupation list?
