The rejection is certainly NOT because you are from Borneo.
But from the very little information you gave, it is impossible to tell what the actual rejection reason could be. You might want to read on this forum or elsewhere about Singapore work passes, their requirements, application process and approval chances.

From what I know regarding the work permit requirement, they accept SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) and Diploma transcript. No minimum wages, the only thing that work permit holders has to do is to abide the rules given such as not marrying a Singaporean, would not have the previlege to apply for PR and so on. My agent said they will investigate what is the problem and appeal again which they did. Now awaiting for the result. It takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Hi, everyone. As recently I too encounter this problem, I think the "trend" is still on....although they might deny it using other reasons.

Recently I got a job in Singapore, I've signed the offer letter. Long story short, the company retract back the offer and paid the breaching fee due to unable to get my WP. The company said the boss personally went to the MOM and apply my WP a few times and got rejected without a reason.

I'm not sure whether the unspoken reason is because I scored all the points for being rejected. As I'm currently 27 yrs old, Sabahan bumiputera and a male, and no, I've no problem entering Singapore as I've been there just 1-2 months before they apply my WP.

There are many potential rejection reasons, but you being from Borneo is not one of them!
