Hi Everyone

I'm new to this so I apologize in advance if I come across as naive.

I am looking at immigrating to the Netherlands so the main reason for being on here is to find out how one can go about this.

I am from South Africa.

I've had a quick look at the information you've provided in your profile.聽 I'm not sure how time spent working in the South African bush will post across to working in the Netherlands, so a few points that will maybe help you.

First of, at the top of this page is a link to our discover section, if you mouse over that you'll get access to our Netherlands Guide, have a read of that and the links it contains, they may answer some questions you have.

Next - Visa - unless you have an EU passport, you will need a visa to live and work in the Netherlands.聽 These generally relate to what work you can do; if you have a unique skill that's in great demand, then life becomes a lot easier in this regard.聽 If you don't have these skills, then it will come down to someone deciding what your chance of finding work are and you'll have to learn Dutch to take an exam.

Learn Dutch - your info tells me you speak English, German and Afrikaans.聽 Afrikaans is similar to Dutch and as a language, it's based on English, Dutch, German and African tribal languages from > 200 years ago and hasn't really developed much in the meantime; the only people who speak it in the Netherlands are other South Africans; most people around you will understand you if speak slowly and can find a way to get rid of your accent, but life around you is in Dutch, so if you want a decent job and to integrate into Dutch society, you will need to learn Dutch.聽 If you don't qualify for a skilled migrant visa, then you'll have to be tested and pass an exam before you can apply for a visa.

Qualifications - the Dutch are big on qualifications; if you have any then you need to ensure they are recognised in the Netherlands.聽 if they aren't recognised, you will need to find out what you need to do to get them recognised.

I started postin before introducin myself, so pardon my rude ways...

Im Daniel from Italy, considering bout movin to the netherlands cause Im fed up of how my country works and the times I came to the ned as a vacation I was surprised, in a good way, of how kind and willin to help people were, not tryin to fool us. Readin the stats they say the country is one of the happiest.
Being said I like my job but I do far too more extra unpaid time workin and savin money is barely impossible, the situation stress me out. So anyjob would be fine. I started studyin on my own the language. But without somebody to practise improvement come slow.
That is it.

Hi everyone, my name is Evelin and I am moving to the Netherlands in the first week of Jan. 2020 together with my husband. We will both be working in Amsterdam. Having lived in the UAE for 3 years for me and 7 years for my husband and previously experienced live in Spain, as well as the UK, we are now excited for this new chapter of our lives.

We are currently still looking for our permanent house/apartment in the area, and once we settle would love to attend any expat events to get to know more people

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

As the place name kind of hints, you're in the South of Amsterdam.聽 I think I'd be looking for places in between Amsterdam and Utrecht for somewhere to live - use Google maps to look at commute possibilities.聽 There are plenty of agency websites to find somewhere to live; the only problem is that rental places are in short supply in Holland, so expensive.聽 To give you a starting point, try Pararius ().聽 Watch out for scammers.

just joined the forum to gain some insight and information on some topics that have already been raised. Will appreciate it if someone could be as kind as to point me in the right direction as to how to go about getting any or all processes started to get me and my family into the Netherlands.

Top left of this page is a drop-down Discover link which will give you access to our Netherlands Guide; is a good place to start.聽 Further, the Forum has a search function (top right hand corner - small spy glass, use that to conduct key word searches,

You will need entry visas and residence permits (MVV) to do this, part of that process is to pass a Dutch language exam, so start learning Dutch.
