During one聮s big move abroad, shipping personal belongings to the host country can be stressful. Customs regulations differ from one country to another and you never quite know what to expect when trying to recover your belongings once you聮re settled. How about helping expats considering moving to Oman by answering some questions about custom regulations?

What are the procedures to get your belongings cleared by customs once you have arrived in Oman? Who do you have to contact and how do you get in touch with them? How do you go about from there?

How do you then carry your belongings to your new home?

Are there any items that are restricted by customs in Oman?

How much does it cost to get your belongings cleared by customs in Oman? Does the cost change depending on the amount or on certain specific items?

It is always better to take expert advise from the shipping companies as rules may change slightly from time to time.聽
If you are moving from any Country into Oman get a shipping company handle the personal effects packing and shipping they will do it all for you on a Door to Door shipping basis.
Customs is free normally for any used personal effects and even if there is any charge for new items it will be just 5% of value you show on the invoice.
