Cheapest cities in Ireland

Post new topic

Bhavna

Hello everyone,

Budget is an important consideration when moving to Ireland. Ideally, expats would settle down in a city in Ireland where the cost of living is low but where they could also enjoy a decent quality of life. Would you be able to give a few tips to someone planning a move to Ireland by answering the questions below?

What are the cheapest cities in Ireland?

Why are they cheap? What singles them out as a city where the cost of living is low?

What is the average budget for one person living in these cities?

Is it easy to find a job as an expat in these cities? What is the overall quality of life like?

Are they expat friendly? Would you recommend these cities to someone looking to settle in Ireland?

Please share your experience,

Bhavna

Hi Michaeleolas7,

Thank you very much for the feedback. If you don't mind, could you please tell us around how much is needed in terms of income to cover necessary expenses in Cork ?

Will be very much appreciated

The cost of living is rising a bit, but anyone earning on or about 25k would be reasonably comfortable renting outside the city centre.
Inside city centre is a bit more expensive.

Hello,

Galway has a bit fo everything. Is not a big city, but is a really young city. Always full of life. And has this charm that I couldn't find in another Irish cities.

Another city I can recommend is Athlone.  Is becoming one important town in the midlands, and is closer to Dublin Airport than Galway (that's a plus  :D )

I found on google this page about how much is the cost of living.
Check it out, Galway page is pretty accurate. I recommend you to search for Galway, Athlone, Waterford, Limerick (never being in Limerick or Waterford so can't speak on how are them). Also you can compare.
Hope this info helps you!

The Numbeo site can do comparison too. Seems like Galway is cheaper than Cork:
