The Lao govt have recently introduced an online evisa.
It is easy to use and takes 3 days to have it emailed to you. There is a dedicated evisa line at immigration to which you present your passport and approval letter. This service is only available at the Friendship bridge and Wattay airport, Vientiane.

This obviates having to line up and the visa on arrival desk and go through the system there.

Has anyone used the e-visa system yet? Would like some info on how it all went.

It s not yet fully operative. They are ironing out the problems. VOA is still the best bet at the moment.

Indeed. Wattay appears to be the only port of entry that works at the moment.

I think the Friendship bridge offers the service but will take that under advisement. Hope it gets sorted out soon and allow it at all ports of entry.
