1聽 - The Capitol City is Hanoi, though the administrative centre is generally considered to be Ho Chi Minh City by the Vietnamese.

I know Vietnam fairly well. Not saying that am an expert:

2. What currency is used in Vietnam? VND - Vietnam Dong. However many landlords demand $ for rent payment.

The Lotus & the face of Uncle Ho
4. What are the official languages or the ones used the most on a day-to-day basis? Vi峄噒. However, in both Hanoi & Saigon there鈥檚 many Korean & chinese. If you stay in those neighborhoods, you can use those languages exclusively.

Facial likenesses are not really symbols.聽 Considering the banners that are displayed on roadsides near holidays, I think you could say that the hammer and sickle is the national symbol at this point in history.

I would call facial likenesses 'icons', something western cultures in general don't seem to comprehend.

Some icons are more 'universal' within cultures than others.

On September 2nd, I'll likely still be in Hanoi for the national day celebrations.

I'll let you know which 'symbols' dominate the scene.
