I am currently in HCM doing my two week quarantine. I had been teaching music in China for the last five years and I'm one of those teachers who went on vacation and couldn't get back.
Hi everyone,
I have just moved to Hanoi and I am completing my quarantine at the moment.
A bit of a strange time to be moving to a new country, but I am cautiously optimistic. I am interested in getting to know people, and exchanging tips on living here. I have been in Hanoi many times on business trips but have never lived here. It's fair to say I have hundreds of mundane questions, but I won't bore you with them now.
Looking forward to meeting people and living in Vietnam.

Welcome to The Forum.
Please take a look at some of the recent subject threads.
There are a couple of discussions about the quarantines and about re-entering Vietnam.
Your experiences would be great additions to the conversations, as there are a lot of people with questions.
Let's not discuss it in this thread because it's just for new member introductions.
Cheers!

Hello all,
My name is Samer. I'm from the U.S. by way of Jordan. I spent the summer of 2019 in Hanoi with my wife and son and we fell in love with Vietnam. We finally made it back (after 2-weeks in quarantine with a 3 year old.)
I'm doing some consulting for a Myanmar based project but will soon have a lot of free time to spend. I want to meet people! I enjoy football, basketball, book clubs, politics, food, cooking, music, percussions, and simply getting to know people and hearing their stories.
I really like humans.
Thank you and hope to meet you all!
I didn’t want to create a new thread for this, but is there a way to sort the posts in a thread so the newest post is at the top?

Thank you for the suggestion, which I've forwarded to admin. Will post their answer when it's available.

Heretical thought! The sands of time flow downward. Evermore.

And It probably won’t happen anyway, because then you wouldn’t have to scroll past the articles and ads at the bottom while trying to find the button that takes you to the last page of the threadÂ
Hi am new here. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. I have been to Vietnam all over the country maybe 8 times over a few years. i mainly stayed in Danang.

My husband was born in Brandon, MB where winter was -55°. I've heard all about it and saw plenty of photos in which their houses were completely buried under the snow. After 43 years of such winter, in 1950, grandma packed up the whole family and moved to Laguna Beach, CA where the family still lives today.

I just realized if you click on the little “New†blue rectangle, instead of clicking somewhere else on the thread title, it takes you to the last unread part of the the thread...Problem mostly solved, but the ability to sort would still be nice 😆
Hi All.
I live in Baltimore and work for a guy from Rach Gia. He has, over the past ten years, been telling me I would LOVE living there.
I've not been to Vietnam and from the research I have done, was leaning towards the north.
Saying that though, is there a good site/forum I could get onto to look for a small cafe/bar to purchase?
In or around Roch Gia would be great.
Nothing crazy. No real timeline yet.

Buying any business here is fraught with danger. You should come here and get a feel for the place. Not a lot of expats in that area, so not sure who your customer base will be. Contact a member called Willybaldy, he lived there for awhile.
That’s good place with beautiful sea and you can make a money as english teacher there, with income about $1000-2000 per months : ) good luck
Hi everyone and thanks a lot for the warm welcome.
I am Nobin from India and all through my life, I have been a wandering guy. People normally greet each other but my buddies, my near and dear ones, instead, enquire ," Nobin, where are you these days?" Don't blame them . I have lived in 5 different countries -- Indonesia, China, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Thailand .
South East Asia is one region which is close to my heart. I am now a Financial Advisor and an online tutor. I wish to be in Viet Nam soon and see thru my remaining working career here in this fast growing and remarkable country that is Viet Nam.
Vishakha, my wife is into teaching for over a decade and a half. She would love to teach in Viet Nam once I settle down.
I am an active netizen and believe that I can write well as my articles have featured in Indian and UAE dailies. Besides, I am an animal lover. We have Meera, our 4 legged daughter -- a rescued brown haired lab. Yoga and voracious reading with old Hindi and English songs being played in the background, are my other passions.
Will be in touch with you all, folks, over this portal and later, in person -- fingers crossed.
CHEERS,
NOBIN

I and maybe others are wondering what was the basis of your entry. Are you some type of "expert" as defined by the government?
Hi. Am pleasantly surprised to learn that you were in China. I was in Tianjin for about a year and a half. China is a remarkable country with great infra structure. And where did you live in China? I hope to be in Viet Nam soon. Fingers crossed.
NOBIN,
PUNE,INDIA.
Hi Thigv,
Yeap, that's right.
I work at a creative agency, specialising in digital project delivery (project management).
Reckon for most foreigners the key basis of entry would be 'expert in a particular field'.
Cheers,
Nur
Call me suspiicious but that sounds like a remote working job hardly requiring relocation
